Learn how to create an exact copy of your WordPress website using the WP Toolkit in Plesk. Cloning is useful when you want to test changes, try new plugins, or set up a staging environment without affecting your live site.
Steps
- Log in to Plesk via your Zeniar Portal and open the WP Toolkit
- Click on your WordPress installation to expand its details
- Click the Clone button
- Choose the destination for the cloned site. You can clone it to a subdomain (e.g. staging.yourdomain.com) or a different domain on your account
- Click Start to begin the cloning process
- A progress indicator will appear in the bottom right corner of the page
- Once complete, a success message will confirm the clone has been created
Your cloned site is now ready to use. Any changes you make on the clone will not affect your live website. Once you're happy with your changes, you can apply them to your live site manually or create a fresh clone.
