Understanding Email Security with Zeniar
Email is one of the most common targets for cyberattacks. Zeniar uses multiple layers of protection to keep your email accounts safe from spam, phishing, and other threats. This guide explains how our email security works and what you can do to stay protected.
How Zeniar Protects Your Email
- DMARC — Zeniar requires all incoming emails to have a valid DMARC configuration to prevent email spoofing
- SPF — We check the SPF record of every incoming email to verify it's being sent from an authorised server
- Spamhaus Blacklist — Emails from domains listed on the Spamhaus DNS Blacklist are automatically blocked
- SpamAssassin — An additional spam filter you can enable on individual email accounts for even more protection
Tips for Keeping Your Email Secure
- Use strong passwords — Set a strong, unique password for each email account and change it regularly
- Enable SpamAssassin — Activate SpamAssassin on your email accounts in Plesk for extra spam filtering. We recommend setting the sensitivity to 2 for the best results
- Be cautious with links and attachments — Don't click on links or open attachments from unknown or suspicious senders
- Watch for phishing emails — Be wary of emails that ask for personal information, login details, or payment. Zeniar will never ask for your password via email
- Keep your email client up to date — Whether you use Outlook, Apple Mail, or a mobile app, make sure it's running the latest version
- Use secure connections — When setting up your email on a device, always use SSL/TLS encryption for both incoming (IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) connections
- Log out on shared devices — If you access webmail from a public or shared computer, always log out when you're done
Recommended Email Settings
